When I was young I was fortunate to be able to travel all over Europe and part of the US and I discovered the wonderful world of painting in the world's famous museums. I was captivated by the colours, the shapes, the movements, the light and shadows and the sheer genius of the artists who were able to bring life onto the canvas in so many amazing ways.
Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that one day I would dare to paint. My friend Jean Parke persuaded me about 9 years ago to join an art class that was taught by professional painters Jeni Bagshaw and Barbara Jane Banks; this group is today known as the "Vale Judeu Art Group". What an amazing journey it has been and there still so much more to discover and explore! The joy is the journey not the destination!

"Sunrise after the Rain in the Park"
The Loulé city park is a place of peace and tranquility especially early in the morning when I walk there with my dog. The previous night it must have rained heavily because when the sun came up it suddenly turned everything into brilliant, glittering, shimmering shades of the most luscious greens, sapphire blues and golden yellows. A symphony of colours and light.

"Out of the Woods together"
When I was a child the family often took long walks on a Sunday afternoon through the beautiful forests that surrounded our village. For me it was a magical place, dark and mysterious and I loved watching the sun rays shining through the thick leafed tall trees making beautiful patterns on the ground and bringing brightly blooming flowers out into the light.

"Crazy Daisies"
One late afternoon I was strolling over the meadows in the hills behind my cottage under an overcast sky. Suddenly there was a break in the clouds and the sun sent a ray of brilliant light across the meadow. My eye caught these daisies, all lit up as if they were in a spotlight and getting ready to dance!
